Layout of Museum

Before designing wayfinding signage or an informational leaflet I need to write a structure for what is going to be in the museum and where it will be located.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art - Museum Map

I will structure the museum logically, going through history as you go up floors:

Basement, Ground, First Floor, Second Floor, Third Floor.

Basement: Interactive level, hands on printing, play with type.

Ground: Contemporary gallery- for people who have already been around the permanent collection and want to see the changing collection of contemporary type and design.

First Floor: Gutenberg and the printing press, The beginnings of type, Caslon, Garamond, Baskerville, Didot.

Second Floor:  20th Century, Cooper Black, Times New Roman, Helvetica, Gotham,

Third Floor: Computer Age, Type Now.

This is the basic structure of the museum but each floor will have short insights into specific typographers etc.
