Studio Workshop - 2/10/12

In this workshop we were categorising the packaging that we had each collected into what we considered High class packaging, medium class and low class:

Our 'High class' row is on the left, medium in the middle and low on the right,

Our High Quality products

Medium Quality

A collection of what we categorised as low

High
  • Feel of Stock
  • General consideration of design
  • Complexity of net
  • Expensive print techniques- foiling & embossing
  • Personal taste
Medium

  • Mass produced
  • Cheaper products than the 'high' ones
  • Robust packaging
  • brighter and more garish than high quality
  • More original design than low quality
Low

  • Cheap stock
  • Disposable
  • Bright Colours
  • Basic nets
  • Flimsy

This is the ultimate list compiled from each group:

High
  • Nice feeling stock
  • sustainability
  • Looks expensive
  • Durability
  • Complex Net
Middle
  • Disposability
  • Good durability but design doesn't match
  • Not amazing design
  • Mundane
  • Familiarity
Low
  • Overcrowded design
  • Looks mass produced
  • Poor quality images
  • Attempting to mimic more popular products
  • unnecessary packaging
